Jane Louise Barry

Jane Louise Barry, 62, passed away surrounded by her family on September 9, 2012 in Thousand Oaks, California. A longtime resident of Moorpark, California, Jane was member of Holy Cross Catholic Church since 1989 and a former Eucharistic minister.

Jane was born in 1950 and grew up in Sarnia, a small city in the Canadian province of Ontario where the Great Lakes empty into the St. Clair River. Jane was the daughter of the late Alma and Thomas Gordon Park. She was a nurse, having graduated from Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, and worked in the labor and delivery unit at Sarnia General Hospital.

Jane married Ken in 1970 and they had three children, Shawn, Jeff, and Katie. Jane was the Chief Executive Officer for her family, a volunteer position she held for 42 years. She had many proud accomplishments in this role including overseeing the successful relocation of her family from Canada to the United States in the mid-1980s. Jane, Ken, and her children became naturalized United States Citizens in 2000. As the CEO for her family, she was the lead motivator, party planner, holiday meal preparer, housing construction overseer, residential decorator, team mom, chauffeur, birthday organizer, vacation scheduler, and most recently proud Grandma to her three grandchildren. She grew to love dogs and forged a special 16-year relationship with her Labrador/Dalmatian named “Norman” before he died in 2008. While simultaneously working as her family’s CEO, Jane was employed for 14 years at Blue Cross in Westlake Village before retiring in 2004. Jane was fortunate to have traveled often during her life with her husband at her side. She visited the Caribbean, England, Greek Isles, Hawaii, Italy, Ireland, Jamaica, Monte Carlo, and Spain.

Jane is survived by her husband of 42 years Ken, her son Shawn and his wife Sarah, son Jeff and his wife Emily, daughter Katie and her husband Evan, and her three beloved grandchildren Ryley, Lauren, and newborn Hannah.

A vigil and remembrance will be held on Friday September 14, 2012 at 7:00pm at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park at 5600 Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village. A funeral mass will be conducted at 10:00am on Saturday September 15, 2012 at Holy Cross Church in Moorpark.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Alma Park, Jane’s mother.
