Jean was born on May 19, 1935 to Frank and Louise Huebsch in Brooklyn, New York. She was the oldest child, and was later followed by her brother William (Bill).
She had a memorable and happy childhood, involved in school, theatrical productions, and church, with annual family vacations to Lake Rononkoma in New York. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1953, and went on to Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City. Soon after, she began a wonderful job as an executive secretary at CBS in Manhattan. She later finished her education at New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
She met Philip Boucher while attending NYU and they were married in 1962. They had three children: David, Steven, and Valerie. The Boucher family moved all over the country from 1972 to 1983 when they finally ended up in Westlake Village, California. Jean went on to work at Jafra Cosmetics in Westlake for over 15 years before her retirement.
She was an avid gardener, lover of books, theater, travel, and crossword puzzles (she could do the NY Times Sunday puzzle!!)
Jean had an unwavering faith in Christ and was a devoted member of Westlake Lutheran Church since moving to California in 1983. This is now New Hope Lutheran Church in Agoura. She remained an active member of her congregation even during her fight against cancer. As her Pastor said, her faith grew even stronger during her illness. “It wasn’t cancer that took her; it was Christ who welcomed her home.”
The true loves of Jean’s life were her children and grandchildren. She gave so much to her family and will be deeply missed. There is already a large void in our hearts.
She was predeceased by her parents and both of her sons David and Steven. She is survived by her brother Bill, sister-in-law Lois and their children all in Stonybrook, New York. Jean is also survived by her daughter Valerie Gardhouse (husband Lance) and their children Nicholas, Jake, and Bryce of Simi Valley as well as Steve’s children Elizabeth and Jason of Temecula.
Jean’s daughter, Valerie, would like to thank Dr. William Isacoff and his entire staff at UCLA for the care and compassion they showed to Jean throughout her illness.
A memorial service for Jean will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Agoura Hills at 10:30 am (818-889-8700).
Jean’s final resting place will be at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park in Westlake Village, Ca.
