Jeanne H. Hodder (née Jeanne Fae Harris), affectionately known to most everybody as “Gigi”, of Arroyo Grande and Thousand Oaks, passed away on October 20, 2025 at the age of 105. She was born on July 13, 1920 in Lincoln, NE, and grew up in Independence, MO before relocating to the San Fernando Valley area in 1946 and later to Thousand Oaks in 1961.
She is mother of two sons, Douglas Forester of Waxahachie, TX, and Russell Hodder of Fullerton, CA. and a daughter, Ellen Reithmayr of Newbury Park, CA. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker and mother.
She loved her Lord Jesus and spent her entire life learning to know Him better. She walked with Him daily through the reading of His Word and hiding it in her heart; talking and listening to Him through constant prayer, and intercession for others; and living out her faith in Him by telling others about His saving grace and loving those around her. She was a dynamic member of the Christian Women’s Club in Thousand Oaks, involved in
church choir, a strong advocate for missions, and a faithful participant in
prayer groups. She held Bible studies in her home, was engaged in
outreach in her community, and her door was always open to her
neighbors on Kirk Avenue or Gularte Road.
She is preceded in death by her parents Faye and Leone, brother Donald,
sister Marguerite, grandson Christopher, and her late husband, Russell H.
Hodder. She is survived by her son Douglas, daughter Ellen (husband
Kurt), son Russell, granddaughter Jeanne (husband Brent) of Waxahachie,
TX, grandson John of Thousand Oaks, CA, grandson Bryan of
Indianapolis, IN, great granddaughter Heather (husband Jake) of Brighton,
CO, and great-grandson John (wife Phylicia) of British Columbia, Canada,
along with a number of great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank staff of Vista at Simi Valley, of the Baxter
House in Newbury Park, and of Affinity Health Care (Hospice) for the care
and compassion they all showed to Jeanne in the last two years of her life.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at Pierce
Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon, Westlake
Village, CA. at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in the honor of Jeanne to your
