

Joe was the eldest son of the late Joe “F” Brandenburg and Fern Player Brandenburg. He was born in Murray, Utah but, their family made the move to Southern California shortly after his birth settling into their new Zion, California. Joe grew up in a deaf home and ASL was his first language. He became a great communicator at a young age as an interpreter for his parents, as well as interpreting for church meetings and conferences. Joe was a good student athlete playing Varsity basketball and baseball during his primary education at Leuzinger High School in Hawthorne, CA before moving to Torrance, CA for his early college education.
Joe lost his mother Fern to cancer at age 20 and soon after decided to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Joe was called to serve in Berlin, Germany for 2.5 years learning German and sharing the hope of the gospel on the western side of the Berlin wall, as well as Austria and Switzerland.
Upon his return to the states, Joe attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where he earned his degree in Sociology and met his sweetheart, Ginger Malmrose of Arcadia, CA.
Joe and Ginger were married in June of 1967, at the Los Angeles Temple and established their home in Thousand Oaks, California where they remained for over 55 years. They welcomed three children into their family: Kelly, Chad, and Candi as well as ten beloved grandchildren most of whom were born, raised, or currently reside in Thousand Oaks or Monterey, California.
Joe worked for State Farm Insurance, Farmers Insurance, and was passionate about helping seniors prepare financially for their retirement.
In their golden years, Joe and Ginger were able to enjoy traveling, enjoying his LA sports teams, grandchildren’s sports and extra curriculars, as well as serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Joe is survived by his younger sisters Denna Hollinger of Sandy, UT, Rena Prickett of Herriman, UT, Jodi Arganbright of Fairfax, VA and brother Jon Brandenburg as well as his children Kelly (Bryan Pelton), Chad (Stephanie Brandenburg), Candi (Rob Garrett) and grandchildren Tyson Garrett (Charli Garrett), Tori Brandenburg, Coby Garrett (Melanie Garrett), Eric Brandenburg, Ryan Garrett (Payton Garrett), Oakley Pelton Langeveld (Bridger Langeveld), Ruby Pelton, Adam Garrett, Sunny Pelton, and Jessica Garrett.
Joe is predeceased by his wife Ginger Malmrose Brandenburg, as well as his mother Fern, father Joe “F” and step-mother Dixie Brandenburg.
