She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Stanley Alan Young, her brother Fred Braun and her brother-in-law Dean Young. Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Debbi (husband Tim), Kim (husband Todd), and Matt (wife Monica); her grandchildren, Clair (husband Troy), Christine (husband Kyle), Kyle (wife Jenna), Erin, Samantha, Jillian, Grace and Ryan; and her great-grandchildren Jack, Drew, and Lucy. She is also remembered in the hearts of her brother's family: Joanne, Jennifer, Fred, Leslie, Rocco and Vinny. We hope she's holding Stella's hand in heaven!
Judy was born and raised in Chicago, and was always a mid-westerner (and Bears fan) at heart. She and Stan met at Northwestern University where both obtained degrees in business. She worked as an accountant for Allstate Insurance, and then raised her children as a stay-at-home mom. After years as a Girl Scout leader, soccer and softball team manager, room mom, and TOHS football booster, she returned to the workforce, again in accounting, rising in a short time to the position of Controller for Gene Jackson Farms.
Judy loved her family, her work, and the many friends she met through her bowling league, bridge groups, and post-retirement volunteering for Westlake Women's Club and the Ventura County Republican Women's Club. Her UVTO dinner group also meant so much to her in recent months. Sports were a passion, particularly football and tennis. She and Stan even cheered on Team USA at several Olympic Games. Judy, in fact, loved all kinds of travel--from beach camping with family, to adventures at many national parks, to vacations in exotic locales like Thailand, Australia and Spain's Costa del Sol. Finally, she was a true patriot; she emphatically believed in the goodness of her country.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday November 25, 2016 at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village, with a reception at the Sherwood Lake Club immediately following.
In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Judith's name.
Arrangements under the direction of Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Mortuary, Westlake Village, CA
