She was a wonderful mother to her daughter, Katherine Becker, her son-in-law Gary Becker, her son
Richard Conlee and his wife Linda, and a stepdaughter Linda Owen.
LaDean was the "the best grandma ever" to her four grandchildren: Owen Conlee, KC Conlee Stewart,
Jennifer Becker Sinclair, and Jared Becker. She adored their spouses, Kathy, Jeff, and Blake. She also
leaves a cousin, Lynne Bogosian and a lively bunch of admiring great-grandchildren: Ian, Parker, Estie,
Reid, Tyler, Caleb, Olive, and Otto. Her husband, James Hoffman Owen, and her son, James Edward
Conlee, preceded her in death.
Born in Oklahoma in 1920, the Courthouse records burned leaving her to presume that her birthday was
December 24th. As a child she moved with her parents to Denver CO. and ultimately settled in Los
Angeles, where she lived most of her life. With her husband and children, she lived for short periods in
Saratoga, CA, Westfield, NJ, and Lubbock, TX, settling finally in Woodland Hills for 54 years before
passing.
LaDean was top Sales performer in Men's Fashions at Saks Fifth Avenue in Woodland Hills where she
worked for 20 years until she retired after the Northridge earthquake in 1994. In the years that
followed, she became actively involved with the First United Methodist Church of Canoga Park and
served on multiple boards and service projects until age slowed her down.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on July 20, 2018 at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd. Westlake Village, CA.
