Born on June 22, 1947, in Corry, Pennsylvania, Linda was the daughter of the late William and Audrey Miller. She grew up in Corry and graduated from Corry Middle High School before pursuing her calling in healthcare. She moved to Philadelphia to attend the Temple University School of Nursing, where she earned her degree and began a distinguished career as a Registered Nurse. She married Dr. Allan Serviss in 1978.
Linda’s life was defined by her care for others and her adventurous spirit. In the early years of her career, she worked as a dedicated ICU Nurse in both Philadelphia and Chester Springs, PA.
In 1996, Linda moved to Walton, NY, where she became a vibrant member of the community. Alongside her husband, Allan, she was active in the PTA and Music Boosters. It was there that she embraced her love for animals, co-founding Dunk Hill Alpacas, a family farm. While breeding alpacas, she continued her nursing mission by working in the Alcohol Rehab Unit at Delaware Valley Hospital.
In her later years, Linda returned to California, settling in Westlake Village in 2010. Even in "retirement," her caregiving heart never rested, as she dedicated herself to looking after her mother and her in-laws.
Those who knew Linda will remember her eclectic tastes and sharp wit. Her household would usually be filled with the beautiful music of Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Prima, and Leon Russell. She also enjoyed attending the occasional classical symphony. At the same time she enjoyed the low brow humor of Dumb and Dumber and Mrs. Doubtfire. During the baseball season, you would find her tuned into a Phillies game.
Linda was an avid reader, religious Sudoku player, a lover of all dogs, and—for a brief but memorable time—a peacock owner. Nothing made Linda happier than being served Pasta Puttanesca cooked by her husband or being an amazing Mom Mom to her many grandchildren.
Linda’s greatest legacy is the large, loving family she leaves behind. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years.
She is also survived by her six sons and their spouses: Charles (Christine) Serviss of Leiden, Netherlands, Chris (Kim) Anderson of Escondido, CA, Ken (Alicia) Serviss of Springfield, NJ, Dan (Lisa) Serviss of Livingston, NJ, William Joseph (Kathryn) Serviss of Sherman Oaks, CA, and Alex (Heather) Serviss of Albany.
She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Tristan, Angelo, Liza Ann, Mallory, Tanner, Rebecca, Victoria, Rachel, Jessica, and Jordan; and two great-grandchildren, Saylor and Sienna.
