Lynne was the eldest of Jack and Patricia Francis’s five children, and their only daughter. She thrived during her childhood in Levittown, NY, quickly asserting her role as her brothers’ sports competitor, truth-teller, and unconditional go-to person. As adults, distance never diminished their sibling bond.
Lynne’s surviving brothers and sisters-in-law include Jim Francis (Carole Kaney-Francis), Dallas, TX, Scott Francis (Julie Corbett), Cold Springs, NY, David Francis (Donna Powell), Burlington, VT, and Rob Francis (Teri Francis), San Jose, CA.
Lynne’s adventurous spirit led her to San Francisco in the late 1960s where she began to explore opportunities in the film distribution industry. In 1975 Lynne found her career home with Universal Films were she thrived, enjoying not only the challenges of her job but the opportunity to learn from, as well as to mentor, fellow team members, many of whom became dear friends.
Their shared careers in the industry led to Lynne’s meeting Jim Cargile, her husband, with whom she shared 32 years of personal and professional adventures. Together they forged friendships that endured beyond Jim’s death and proved to be an edifying source and strength to Lynne.
Lynne is survived by her sister-at-heart and first cousin, Terry Ross (Bloomfield Hills, MI), devoted stepdaughter, Tracy Cargile-Fish (Western Hills, CA) and dearest friend of 35 years, Carol Combs (Oak Park, CA), in addition to nine nieces and nephews who will forever remember Aunt Lynne as an encouraging, loving, sarcastically funny, and cool friend.
Lynne’s life will be celebrated this Friday, Sept. 2, at 2:00 PM, at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Griffin Mortuary, 5600 Lindero Canyon Rd, Westlake Village, CA. Because of Lynne’s tender heart for animals, the family would be honored that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Agoura Hills Animal Shelter or a shelter of your choice.
