Westlake Village
The Lord called Malaine Edwards home on June 11, 2012. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Her husband Robert Edwards, daughter Cheryl Wertheimer, grandson Stephen Wertheimer, son-in-law David Netzley and step granddaughter Heidi Netzley survive Malaine.
Malaine was born on July 11, 1923 in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Garfield High School with honors in Music. She played tennis and basketball and enjoyed spending time at the beach. Malaine loved to sing, play the piano, violin, viola, ukulele, dance and entertain at church, home and school.
In June of 1941 she met Robert Edwards while buying groceries for her Grandmother. They were married nine months later on March 22,1942 at March Air Force Base - shortly after her husband was called to serve our country in the Pacific Front during WWII. They enjoyed 70 wonderful years of marriage. During and after the war she worked as one of the first computer programmers so her husband could attend and graduate from USC. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir, bowling, going to the beach and camping.
After having their only child in 1952, they moved to Altadena California. Then 10 years later to Ventura, where she continued singing at church, bowling and serving as a volunteer at Ventura Community Memorial Hospital. Although she was raised in the city she supported her daughters passion for riding and showing horses.
Malaine and Robert moved to Westlake Village in 1978 where she shared many years of happiness and joyful memories with family and friends. Watching her grandson grow and blossom was her greatest delight.
Malaine was devoted to her family, church and the Lord. Malaine will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She was a light to all who knew her. Malaine was a truly amazing woman from a great generation.
Funeral services will be held at Pierce Brothers Mortuary on June 14, 2012 at 2 pm.
We would like to thank the caregivers who were there for her and our family.
