

Longtime Thousand Oaks resident Margaret "Peggy" Powers went home to her Lord on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. She was 95. Peggy spent her last days surrounded by family, loved ones and friends at her home in Belmont Village.
She was preceded in death by William Powers, her husband of 57 years. Bill went to his eternal rest Dec. 10, 2003.
Margaret Eileen Crosby was born on Dec. 21, 1916, in Philadelphia, Pa., during the Great Depression. She was orphaned at age four and raised by relatives. Peggy met her future husband shortly after WWII and was married on Dec. 28, 1946. Peggy and Bill moved to Detroit, Mich., where they had five children. The family relocated to the Conejo Valley in 1964. When Los Robles Hospital opened its doors in 1968, Peggy took a position as a pediatric nurse, a career to which she devoted her entire working life.
Peggy enjoyed gardening and sewing and took pride in her home, church and family. She was a faithful wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who lived her life quietly, sacrificially and with integrity. Peggy earned the respect and high regard of all who knew her. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Peggy is survived by her children: Dr. Thomas (Meredith) Powers of Arcadia, Jack (Joneil) Powers of Carrollton, Texas, James (Gail) Powers of Thousand Oaks, Joan (Pete) Stohlman of Newbury Park and Eileen Kurdziel of San Diego; grandchildren, Stephen, Amy, Jenny, Kari, Erin, Katie, Heidi and Brittany; and great-grandchildren, Neil, Matthew, William, Christopher, Olivia, Bridget, Emily and Luke.
A viewing and rosary will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 13, at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church, 155 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks. Interment is at 12 p.m. at Pierce Brothers, Westlake Village.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation to TLC Home Hospice and to the staff of Belmont Village for their loving and compassionate care.
