Maria was born September 22, 1956 in Budapest, Hungary. After completing college, Maria escaped communism and fled to Italy. She then moved to the United States where she settled in California. While learning English in Los Angeles in 1977, she met the love of her life Behzad. They married in 1979 and started their adventurous life together.
Maria was a talented furrier, learning her trade in Hungary. She designed and made fur coats for many years and even created pieces for a few famous people, including Liberace. After her first baby was born, Maria traded her passion of creating furs to become a devoted mother, raising three beautiful children Behzad, Bizhan and Mariam. Maria was committed to her children’s sports and academics, even volunteering at their schools for a number of years and always supporting them. She continued that same love for her three grandchildren, Margaux, Julian and Mila.
Maria was known by her family and friends to be caring, funny and extremely talented in telling stories. Maria spoke many languages including Hungarian, Italian, English and Farsi. She was a great cook and made the best Ghormeh Sabzi and Gulash. Maria found joy in gardening, traveling, animals, and cherished moments with her family and friends.
Maria is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren.
