In the 1950’s, she moved with Bill to Tripoli, Libya where she began to see the world with travel in Europe and Northern Africa. She served as President of the Hickam Air Base Officer’s Wives’ Club in Hawaii, and during the height of the Vietnam War, chaired the American Red Cross volunteers at Clark Air Force Base, Philippines, which served as the first full-service hospital for wounded or injured military being evacuated from Vietnam.
Marge moved with Bill to Westlake Village in 1972 following his retirement from the US Air Force. In the late 70’s she served as President of the Westlake Women’s Club and in the 1980’s as a charter member and President of Soroptimist International in the Conejo. 1984, she chaired the T-O-2-0 project that celebrated the 20th anniversary of the incorporation of Thousand Oaks. That same year, she was named Conejo Valley Woman of the Year, and shared the podium with Fred Wilson, CPA. Fred and Marge went on to marry in 1987 and enjoyed nearly 30 years together, pursuing Fred’s motto of “Live it up,” appearing in creative costumes, and writing their own comedy skits based upon comic duo Gracie Allen and George Burns whenever the opportunity arose.
At Thousand Oaks United Methodist Church, she was Sunday School Superintendent and Chair of the Administrative Board. She also served as Secretary and President of TOACT – Thousand Oaks Against Crime Together. In 1988, Marge became the first woman to be named Commodore of the Westlake Yacht Club.
