Martha Christian

Martha Christian, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, at the age of 101 at the Alameda Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Martha was born in India on July 20, 1922, and her life was a testament to strength, love, and a deep commitment to her family and community. She began her career as a nurse, dedicating herself to the care of others. Over the years, she rose through the ranks, ultimately becoming the Director of Nursing. Her compassion, skill, and unwavering dedication touched the lives of countless patients and their families.

In pursuit of a new chapter, Martha relocated to the United States, where she embraced the opportunities and challenges that came her way. She spent 43 years in the U.S., bringing with her the rich traditions and values of her Indian heritage.

Martha's family was at the center of her world. She raised two sons and two daughters, who, in turn, blessed her with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother who provided guidance, support, and wisdom to her children, enriching their lives with the traditions of her homeland.

Martha's legacy extends beyond her immediate family. Her kindness, resilience, and unwavering commitment to unity were qualities she shared with those she encountered, making her a beloved figure in her community.

As we part from her physical presence, we do so with a solemn salute, saying, "Ma Toojae Salam," which translates to "Dear beloved mother, thank you, and we salute you." This salute is not just a farewell; it is an acknowledgment of the profound impact she has had on our lives, a recognition of her heroism, and a testament to her enduring legacy in our hearts.
