Born November 21, 1940 in Shelton, Connecticut, Mary Jane graduated from Shelton High School, before attending nursing school at Saint Raphael's in New Haven Connecticut, graduating with the Class of 1961.
She moved to California in 1962 to marry her high school sweetheart, Joseph Balint, who was already in California. She quickly obtained her California nursing license and began her 40+ year career as an operating room nurse. They welcomed their first child, Joseph Jr., born in July 1963 and waited 9 years to have her second child, Cathy, in April 1972. While she thrived as an operating nurse at West Park Hospital and later at West Hills Hospital, she lived life to the fullest.
She loved having fun with the neighbors and friends. She loved the outdoors, camping, water skiing, driving down into Baja Mexico. She loved her local sports, Vin Scully and the Dodgers, Chick Hearn and the Lakers. She loved her Thursday night bowling crew at Corbin Bowl. She loved attending church at St Bernadine's in Woodland Hills. She loved following her daughter on the CSUB softball team. She loved her 8 brothers and sisters Gail, Mickey, Paul, Ed, David, Renie, Alice, and Margie. She is survived by her Son and Daughter and 4 grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, Nicholas, and Ashley. Her greatest joy was fellowshipping with her family and friends. Mary Jane loved without condition or reservation. She was a beautiful example of a human being and an inspiration to all she met. Her absence will be felt for eternity. Heaven has gained an Angel. RIP Mama Mary
