

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mary Jane Freer Trimble Hickman of Newbury Park, California on April 3, 2026 at the age of 93 years old. Mary Jane was born on March 13, 1933, to the late John Newell Freer and Emma Jay Freer. She spent her childhood on a farm on the outskirts of Bellefontaine, Ohio.
After graduating from Bellefontaine High School in 1951, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in education from Heidelberg College and later completed her Master’s degree in education from The Ohio State University. She taught elementary school for 40 years. She will always be remembered as a gracious but strong woman, with a strong heart. She loved cooking, gardening, and traveling with friends and family.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Elizabeth (James) Thatcher and by Mary Jane’s husbands, Glenn Trimble and Richard Hickman.
Mary Jane is survived by her brother John Jay Freer of Dublin, Ohio, her daughter Cynthia (Albert) Marangoni and grandson Alex Marangoni of Newbury Park, California and by her son Scott Trimble (Kimberley) of Dallas, Texas.
