Matts Anders Lindmark was born November 30, 1932. One of 10 children, Matts grew up in a home built by his father in Pitea, Sweden. When he was a young man, his Uncle Oscar and his wife Elizabeth inspired him with tales of America. At 26, he immigrated to America and more specifically Santa Monica, California. In the early 60’s he worked for Volvo selling cars. One day a pretty young French girl came in wanting to buy quite an expensive car. Matts talked her out of the car, but fortunately he did talk her in to dinner! He and Brigitte were married in January, 1965 and soon started their family shortly thereafter. Their children Danielle and Erik were their greatest joys.
Matts was an avid sports fan since he was a little boy playing soccer, hockey and snow skiing to name a few. You could always find him on a tennis court or golf course here in California. Westchester was where they initially raised Danielle and Erik and later moved to Thousand Oaks in 1983. Throughout his career, he worked in many capacities for Volvo, Saab, and Jaguar. He finally retired from Hornburg Jaguar in Beverly Hills as one of the VPs of Sales.
Matts Swedish heritage was always near to his heart and the traditions of Sweden combined with Brigitte’s French traditions were an integral part of raising their family. He maintained his membership with the Mayflower Lodge which is part of the Swedish fraternal organization of the VASA order of America. Papa and Far Far, as he was always referred to, is survived by his daughter Danielle and her children Alec and Erik, and by his daughter in law Viviane and her daughter Annebella. He will be greatly missed, but we will remember him and honor him by living our lives with his spirit in our hearts. We find peace and comfort knowing his is with his beloved wife and son in heaven. May they watch over us until we meet again.
