Maunee was born in Sherman Oaks, California on November 2, 1945, to Alden Grant Hansen and Martha “Ethel” (Rammell) Hansen. Their family moved from Salt Lake City, Utah to work for the up and coming aerospace industry. During WWII her father was stationed on a destroyer in the South Pacific where according to legend, her unique name came to be.
Maunee grew up in the San Fernando Valley and went to local schools. She attended San Fernando High School. It was here that she was introduced to her first husband Wayne by her future mother-in-law, who worked at the school. Maunee and Wayne had two daughters and moved to Simi Valley with their young family in 1966. Much of her career she worked for her father or brothers’ aerospace businesses. It was here that she met the love of her life, Gregg.
With Gregg by her side, Maunee led an amazing life full of travel and adventure. Their favorite travel spots were Maui, Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Positano, Italy. They built homes together in Chatsworth, Malibu and Westlake Village, took on huge landscaping projects, built successful businesses and so much more.
After suffering from dementia and several health setbacks, she passed peacefully from this earth on October 26, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones, exactly a week shy of her 77th birthday.
She leaves behind the love of her life and best friend, Gregory Schrott, her daughters and their husbands, Joy Haag-Lupanow and Andy Lupanow, Jill Stenen and Doug Marsh, her stepchildren Fred, Christa and Stephen Schrott. Grandma “nee” also leaves behind her 12 grandchildren and their significant others Sunni (Jared), Joseph, Erin, Paul (Vanessa), Alyssa (Kyle), Darrin (Jazmine), Sarah (Michael), Daniel (Jessica), Dylan (Taya), Justin, Jessica (Leonardo), and Ashley and 14 great grandchildren Elijah, Rafe, Kemper, Reese, Avery, Hailey, Rhea, Danica, Nolan, Ella, Aleeah, Emryn, Winsley, and 4-month-old Andy.
