Nick was born in Washington, D.C. on September 7, 1944. His father, an FBI agent, was reassigned to Houston, Texas where Nick grew up. He attended Rice University, Tulane University, and Tulane Law School, where he received his JD. Although he became a member of the Texas bar, he never actually practiced law, instead becoming a Special Agent with the FBI. He spent all his working years with the Bureau in Los Angeles, retiring after thirty years. As an agent, he was most proud of his work as a major contributor to the security preparations for the 1984 Olympics and a bombing case involving attacks on the IRS. He also enjoyed a brief period of working with applicants and bringing qualified candidates into the Bureau.
A man of many talents, Nick enjoyed all kinds of sports, including rugby when he was in his 30s. He was a creative and skilled artist who loved creating artwork for his friends and family. He was an avid treasure hunter and was successful along with his partner in solving two major puzzles that had challenged searchers for years. He loved square dancing and was very good at dancing at a high level which was perfect for his analytical mind.
He enjoyed writing of all kinds, including screenwriting at which he achieved some modest success. He was a winner in several writing contests and enjoyed seeing his work published.
Nick and his wife Gail enjoyed thirty-five happy years together, spent mostly in Agoura Hills. While he struggled with some of the long-term effects of radiation treatment, he was successful at living his life to the fullest. His loss is a painful one, but happy memories help. Nick is survived by his wife Gail and his brother Christopher Boone of New Braunfels, TX, and the members of Gail's family who loved him and whom he loved.
