Mildred Rosalyn Palermo

Mildred “Milli” Palermo of Thousand Oaks, California passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born on September 8, 1926 in New York City, New York and spent her early years in Yonkers. Milli moved to Thousand Oaks, California in 1979.

Milli worked for several years at Jafra Cosmetics, Gillette Corporation in Westlake Village, California, first in the Marketing Department and then in Human Resources. While her children were school-age, she spent time as a teacher’s aide in a Special Education classroom for students with developmental disabilities.

Milli was strong in her Catholic faith. She was a regular parishioner at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks. She was an active member of the Thousand Oaks Italian Club where she had many friends. In her retirement years, she and her husband Bob loved traveling to places like Europe, Hawaii, and Mexico. Milli was an excellent cook, avid reader, and enjoyed doing arts and crafts.

Milli is preceded in death by Robert Palermo, her husband of 60 years, brother Robert Angelo Irizarry and foster sister, Katherine Clark.

She is survived by her four sons: Bob (wife Gretchen), Don (wife Tamara), Phil (wife Rae) and Bill along with her grandchildren Raphael (wife Sharon), Swan, and Luca.

A devoted wife and mother, Milli will be remembered for her beautiful, compassionate spirit and unconditional love for her family.

The family would like to thank the staff at Family Care Cottage, in Thousand Oaks, for the care and compassion they showed our loved one for the last six years. We also would like to thank the Hospice nurses who provided comfort care to Milli in her final days. And finally, we wish to recognize Bill Palermo for his untiring devotion to our mom Milli all these years as she struggled with dementia.
