

Morton Crair, a resident of the Agoura and LA areas for more than 45 years, passed away on June 1, 2018 at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills after a brief illness. Born in New York City on Jan. 7, 1930, Mort attended Stuyvesant High School and the City College of New York, graduating with a BS in Meteorology. He later attended USC, taking Graduate courses in Communications.
Mort entered and served as an officer in the Signal Corps of the US Army from 1952 until 1966, after which he joined the active reserves until his retirement as a Colonel after 28 years. His service included tours of duty in Arizona, Republic of Korea, New Jersey, Germany, Greenland, and Thailand. After leaving active duty in Thailand, he joined Booz Allen Applied Research as a consultant.
Mort and the family returned to Ft. Monmouth, N.J in 1968, where he was a Research Director for Booz Allen on various communications projects. Mort subsequently accepted a position with ARCO in 1970 and later moved with his family to Los Angeles. While working for ARCO, Mort was responsible for designing and building the most advanced private communications system in existence at the time.
Mort is survived by and will be sorely missed by his children: Bruce and his wife Cathy, Nathan and his wife Daniela, Bev and her wife Lisa, and Mike and his wife Pamela. He will also be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Lorin, Jordan, Kyle, Benjamin and David.
A funeral service for Mort will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, CA 91362 with a burial to follow.
