July 28, 1928 - April 25, 2011
Born in Bristow, OK to John Williams Collins and Ina Trout, died in Sacramento, CA. Preceded in death by Norman Eugene Swensen, her husband of 20 years (1970). Jane was known for her independent nature, her enjoyment of games, including cards, dominoes, and slot machines, and her infectious humor. She is survived by her daughters Janet, Charlotte, Frances, and Kathleen, and their families, including nine grandchildren -- Brian, Elizabeth, Julie, Amy, Sean, Christopher, Eric, Dennis, and Kimberly -- and one great-granddaughter, Kristina.
She enjoyed reading, musicals, and traveling the world. At various times in her life, she worked as a secretary, a clerk, a typist for the military, and a jewelry salesperson. She was a vibrant member of her community, and served as treasurer of the Sylvan Oaks Library for many years. She loved people, and could make lifelong friends out of total strangers in a few minutes.
Funeral services will be held at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park, Westlake Village, CA on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 1:00 pm. A viewing will precede the services. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in her name can be made to the Sylvan Oaks Friends of the Library, Sacramento, CA (http://www.saclibrary.org/?pageId=704).
