Norma Jean (Karns) Burgess (1952-2025). With great sadness, we lost our mother, grandmother and sister this year. Norma was born in Portland Oregon 72 years ago and moved to the San Fernando Valley in 1975. She dabbled in acting with bit parts in movies and commercials, but her enjoyment was the theatre. She joined a theater group in North Hollywood and was involved with all parts of it: acting, producing, building sets, creating props. Her biggest love, however, was her children: Amanda and Billy. She kept them focused on school and sports and lots of other activities. She saw them through college and even graduate school. She was so proud to see them both do well as they grew into adults. Her next big love came with her grandchildren: Amara and Marley. Norma retired in 2017 to care for and babysit her grandkids. She spent lots of time with them, and they loved her dearly. Norma is survived by her daughter: Amanda Campbell and husband Wendell Campbell; and by her son William “Billy” Burgess; her two grandchildren: Amara and Marley Campbell; her two sisters: Jo Marie (Karns) Arnestad and husband Bryan Arnestad, and Nancy (Karns) Johnson and husband Joe Johnson. Norma will continue to be missed, and she will be in our memories forever. Memorial services for Norma will be held at Lighthouse Church 3353 Old Conejo Road, Newbury Park, CA on October 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
