Patricia (“Pat”) Sutherland Anderson passed away on June 11, 2026, at Northridge Hospital in California. She was 94 years old and lived with Parkinson’s disease for the last 24 years of her life, including residing in an assisted living facility and then a skilled nursing home during the last 9 years of her life.
Pat was the beloved mother of her three sons, Bob (his wife, Judy), Jim, and Greg, and the cherished grandmother of her three grandchildren, Eric, Nicole, and Jason. She was devoted to her family, especially her developmentally disabled son, Greg, who predeceased her on November 7, 2025.
Pat always looked for the good in people and respected the dignity in every person. She was genuinely interested in and sincerely cared about everyone she met. She loved serving others and never sought praise or attention. She lived her entire life focused on giving to others, not out of a sense of obligation, but rather from a sincere and heartfelt interest and satisfaction in helping others.
Pat spent most of her work life as a dedicated social worker including being the administrator of a public daycare center for children of migrant farmworkers, a high school counselor advising students on their educational and employment goals and opportunities, and the administrator of a senior care center providing assistance to low-income seniors with their health, housing, and care needs.
Pat will be forever remembered as a woman of grace, dignity, and strength. She lived a life to be emulated, and her memory will always remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. Her family and friends were truly privileged to know her, and she will never be forgotten.
