Patricia Alcalá Slater, born December 1, 1959, to Maria Elva Leon de Alcalá and Gabriel Alcalá, passed into her next life at the age of 61 from lung cancer, at UCLA Medical Center in Westwood, CA. on April 24, 2021. She was at peace, with family. Entering this world in Guadalajara, México, she grew up on both sides of the border, always keeping her Mexican roots proudly on display. She loved to move and dance, leading her to become a passionate long-distance runner and serious yoga practitioner. She received her BA in Art History from CSUN and completed her post graduate education at FIDM in visual display. Married in 1984 to Stephen Michael Slater, mother of Stefan and Simone, she cherished her new granddaughters Penelope and Reese. Love and support for her family, which grew when Stefan married Jenna and Simone married Eric, was always strong, bold, and unconditional. Her positive outlook, inner strength, backbone, and sense of humor was as beautiful as she. “Pati” was known as the “favorite”, as regularly stated by her loving surviving sisters Letty and Martha. To her husband, she was an advisor, confidante, and soulmate, the “love of his life” from the day they met.
Pati will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She is resting in peace and will be remembered fondly, for eternity. Stephen will one day rest by her side, as always, loving, caring, protecting, and watching over each other.
A small memorial will be held at the Slater home in Calabasas on May 22 from 2-4 pm. She will be placed for final resting at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Cemetery in Westlake Village, California.
