Robert Arthur Skillin passed away in Calabasas, California. He was born in Portland, Maine — a child of Philip and Arlene Skillin — and grew up in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating High School in Detroit, MI, he joined the Army. Bo graduated from Eastern Michigan University and the University of San Fernando Valley School of Law. Bo practiced law in Santa Monica for 43 years, and loved his daily commute through the winding beauty of Old Topanga Canyon out to the PCH.
Bo and his wife Christina, married 43 years, settled in Los Angeles. Together they raised three children, Taylor, Claire and Katie in Calabasas.
Their home was a gathering place, a sanctuary, celebrating life with friends and family. Devoted grandfather to Olivia and Neve, and father-in-law to Davar Saleh, Kurt Gassman and Lauryn Guridi. Far beyond his own family, he was a father figure and mentor to countless others who were lucky enough to find their way into his orbit. His humor was quick and genuine and he had a gift for connecting with people that made you feel seen and valued.
A true outdoorsman, Bo enjoyed activities including backpacking through the Smoky Mountains, skiing, camping under the sky, hiking, and he loved exploring new places.
Baseball was in his blood. A lifelong Detroit Tigers fan, Bo played the game himself and coached his son Taylor's team for many years. He could often be found on the golf course or the tennis court, loving the competition and camaraderie. But perhaps the truest picture of Bo Skillin is this: a man in his garden each morning alongside his wife Christina, tending to his lettuce and sweet peas, his citrus trees and flowers — and his infamous compost pile, because Bo understood that things return to the earth and rise again.
