Rosalie Cavanaugh of Calabasas, CA passed away on August 31st, 2023 at the age of 88. She was born on November 30th, 1934 in Rock Springs Wyoming where she grew up In Dayton, Ohio and eventually raised her children in the suburbs of Macomb MI, before retiring to Las Vegas, NV, and her last stop was Calabasas, CA to be with her children.
She graduated from Beavercreek High School in Beavercreek, Ohio as Homecoming queen and cheerleader.
She worked many jobs from a PTA mom, a loan specialist at Teamsters Credit Union, to a trusted realtor and a leader in her community. She was especially proud of her volunteer work, one in particular was answering calls for a crisis hotline for individuals in immediate need, and in her later years she became a talented painter.
She was actively involved in starting a welcome committee to new retirees in her community at the Sienna Golf club aptly named The Sunshine Club, which is still active today.
She is preceded in death by her father William Taft Davis, and mother Grace Davis, her husband Thomas Cavanaugh, and daughter Jody Tanner.
She is survived by her children Michael Balog of Hollywood, CA, Maureen (Robert) Low of Houston, TX, Tracy (David) Smith of Calabasas, CA, and stepchildren Thomas (Anna) Cavanaugh Jr. of Macomb, MI, Colleen (Ned) Doerr of Clarkston, MI. Grandchildren Joshua Matousek, Tony Low, Heather Pridgen, Sullivan Smith, Sophia Smith, Rachel (Mike) Casali, Laura (Jaker) Vanslembreucks, Nina Cavanaugh, Alex Cavanaugh, Kate Boozer, Andi Miles, along with 7 great grandchildren.
Rosalie was vivacious and outgoing, always willing to lend a hand for a project, an idea or for a friend in need. She loved to entertain, loved music, and loved to dance and smile.
The family would like to thank Belmont Village Calabasas caregivers for the care and compassion they showed Rosalie in her final days, for the warmth, laughter and music which brightened her days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial mass and celebration of life at Pierce Brothers on Saturday October 14th at 12:00-1:00. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00.
Interment to follow at Graveside including a bagpipe service 1:00-1:45.
