Thomas Louis DeLuca, 54, passed away on October 18th, 2016, after a 5- year battle with metastatic melanoma. A resident of San Pedro, California, Tom had recently moved in with his family in Thousand Oaks. Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, Tom was always a star athlete. He and his brother John were inseparable, and played almost every sport together. A graduate of Msgr. Farrell High School, 1980, he played four years of football and quarterbacked the team in his sophomore year to an undefeated season. In his senior year, he helped lead the team to the NYC championship. He also played baseball and was voted MVP. Following graduation, Tom entered UCLA and played Bruin football in 1980 and 1981. Tom was the ultimate Bruins fan. He graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Following graduation, Tom was a successful businessman. He was the consummate athlete as well. He enjoyed golfing, running, and competed in many a triathlon. He ultimately followed his passion to become a personal trainer. Everyone who knew him loved him. His love for his family and friends was magnanimous. His great passion, though, was enjoying time with his large Italian family. He loved spending every free moment with them in Thousand Oaks, enjoying especially his younger brother and best friend John, nieces and grand- nephew. They were his true joy. Thomas will be greatly missed, yet greatly remembered. He touched so many lives in so many ways. He cared for all living creatures, big and small. According to his grand- nephew Javier, he made everyone feel like they were someone, and he never gave up on anyone. Thomas exemplified a Christ- like life. Knowing this brings us comfort and assurance that he is now with our Heavenly Father.
Thomas is survived by his parents, Dr. Louis De Luca and Mary Ellen DeLuca, and siblings Marianne Robinson, Louis De Luca, Jr., Vivienne De Luca, and John De Luca. He is also survived by sister-in-law Shari De Luca, brother-in-law Larry Robinson, nieces Alexandra Partipilo, Mary Ellen Carrillo, Alyssa Carrillo, Rachel De Luca, Leslie Massey, Amy De Luca, great-nephew and godson Javier Burgos, and great-niece Aria Quintero.
