

Wayne H. Jepsen retired Los Angeles City Fire Department Engineer, passed away on Dec. 8, 2011. He was born in Los Angeles on Sept. 12, 1934. He was a graduate of George Washington High School in Los Angeles and Harbor Junior College. In 1954, he joined the Naval Air Reserve. As a 21-year old, he entered the Los Angeles City Fire Department on Dec 19, 1955. During his 30-year career, he promoted to Auto Fireman then Engineer. He started his career at fire station 66’s in South Central and went on to work at 80’s(LAX), 63’s (Venice), 35’s (Hollywood, 107’s and finally 8’s in the San Fernando Valley. He retired in January 1986. Wayne and Rhoda were married on Feb. 1, 1957, and raised two children, Greg and Keith, who both went on to follow their dad’s footsteps as firemen. Wayne moved his young family to a little country community called Thousand Oaks in March of 1962. He loved his family and his community. He coached the boys little league baseball teams while Rhoda did the scorekeeping. He bought a boat which led to many years of family enjoyment at various lakes in California. One of his favorites was Topaz Lake on the California-Nevada border. He enjoyed fishing, boating and mountain bike riding along with spending time with all the friends that would meet at the lake each year. We will all miss him very much! Wayne is survived by his wife, Rhoda; sons Greg and Keith; brother, Dick; grandchildren, Steve, Jacob, Sarah, and Ivan; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Leilani, and Kimra; nephews, John and David; niece, Rebecca.
Services will be held at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village at 11am on Friday, Dec 16.
