passed away on April 10, 2011
after a long illness, with his family
by his side. He was born on
April 12, 1933 in Buffalo, N.Y.,
to Lucius J. and Maurita C.
(Garrold) Macdonald. He attended
Bennett High School and
after graduating enlisted in the
U. S. Air Force. He served in the
615th AC&W Squadron in
Prum, Germany from 1953-56.
Wes led a very exciting and
fulfilling life. His first job after
leaving the Air Force was with
the New York Telephone Company
where he met and married
the love of his life, Carole. They
had two children, and in March
1977 they came to Thousand
Oaks where Wes was manager
of Futura Titanium Co. He retired
from Northrop Grumman
in 1994. One of his proudest accomplishments
was working on
the B-2 Bomber.
Wes was a member of Toastmasters
International, and a lifetime
member of the Harley
Owners Group. He was also a
docent at the Ronald Reagan
Presidential Library and Museum
and served on the Traffic
Commission for the city of
Thousand Oaks and was a past
member of the St. Paschal Baylon
10:45 Choir. Wes had a great
love for the outdoors and his
Harley motorcycles which he
had been riding since 1948. He
passed this love on to his wife
and children. On most Sundays
you would find the entire family
on the open road, Carole on the
back of Wes’ bike and his two
children riding right behind on
their Harleys.
Wes is survived by his wife
of 47 years, Carole, and his
daughter, Colleen (Joe) Witty,
and his son, Gregory (Kelly)
Macdonald. He is also survived
by a brother, Bill Macdonald,
and brother-in-law and sister-inlaw,
Jim and Mary Schmand, all
of Florida, and many nieces and
nephews. He is also survived by
his beloved dog Molly and his
grand-dog Max. He was preceded
in death by his brother and
sister-in-law, Ron and Judy Macdonald,
as well as his parents.
The family would like to give
a very special and heartfelt
thank you to Dr. Harris Wasser
and Dr. Paul Sanders for the
care and concern they showed to
Wes and our family during Wes’
illness. We also want to thank
the people at Livingston Home
Health Care and Comfort Keepers
for the care they gave to
Wes.
There will be a viewing and
vigil at St. Paschal Baylon
Church, 155 E. Janss Road on
Wednesday evening from 7-9
p.m. The funeral Mass will be on
Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m.,
also at St. Paschal Baylon.
In lieu of flowers please
make a donation to the American
Diabetes Association.
