William Joe Beeman passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 with his children by his side after a courageous battle with Heart disease. William "Bill" is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille "Ginger" Beeman of 52 years, his parents Earl & Ruby Beeman and siblings, Herbert Beeman and Barbara Keksi.
William was born on February 10, 1947 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Earl and Ruby Beeman and was the youngest of three children. In 1956, the family decided to pack up and head out west to Southern California, settling in the San Fernando Valley.
As a child, Bill was an exceptional athlete, excelling in baseball and was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. As a child, his father would take him to the Los Angeles Coliseum to see the Dodgers play before Dodger Stadium in Chavez Ravine was built. When not at the games, Bill excitedly listened to the games on his transistor radio.
During his teens he worked at his father's gas station learning the in's and outs of auto repair. It was there he cultivated a love of cars. He proudly drove around in his '56 Chevy with his car club, The Valley Showmen, often cruising Van Nuys Boulevard and the Sunset Strip. Bill graduated from James Monroe High School in 1965 and the following year answered his country's call to action and was drafted to the Vietnam War. There he proudly served in the United States Army. Bill served in active duty from May 1966 - May 1968 and for four more years, served in the United States Army Reserves until 1972.
Upon returning from active duty in May of 1968, he met his wife-to-be, Ginger Beeman and after an eight-month courtship, married on January 11, 1969.
Bill and Ginger resided in the San Fernando Valley where their two children, Tina (1971) and Bill (1974) were born. After a brief residence in the state of Washington, Bill and Ginger settled in Thousand Oaks, California where they continued to raise their two children.
Bill worked for 40 years on the manufacturing side of the restaurant industry and in 2007 he was finally able to fulfill his life-long dream of owning his own business, aptly named California Warewashing & Laundry in the San Fernando Valley.
Bill was an honest, loyal man, father and husband and his work ethic rivaled most. Bill enjoyed cooking, landscaping/gardening and was an avid boatsman and water skier in his 20's & 30's. He enjoyed playing golf with his son and attending country music concerts, with Garth Brooks and Alan Jackson being among his favorites, with his daughter, Tina. Always a Dodger fan, he also enjoyed attending games with his family and friends. Christmas was his favorite holiday and his decoration of the Beeman household often rivaled those of Clark Griswold (Christmas Vacation.) Neighbors and passersby would often stop to admire the house.
Bill and his wife enjoyed classic car shows, searching for antique furniture and spending weekends in Cambria and San Simeon.
Bill was laid to rest with the love of his life, Ginger on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Outside burial services took place with military honors at Pierce Brothers Cemetery in Westlake Village, California. A Celebration of Life and funeral Mass for both Bill and Ginger will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
