My Mother passed away at the age of 94, closing a long life filled with love, sacrifice, and devotion to her family. She devoted nearly her entire life to her husband, her twelve children, grandchildren, relatives, and all those she loved. Mother married at only 17 years old. From that young age, she began a lifetime of responsibility as a wife and mother. She cared for her husband, raised twelve children, and always put her family before herself. She rarely thought of her own needs. Her greatest wish was for her children to receive an education, build a good future, and become responsible and caring people. Mother was a true example of a traditional Vietnamese woman—kind, hardworking, patient, humble, and deeply self-sacrificing. Life brought many hardships, but she never complained. She quietly worked, saved, endured, and gave everything she could to her family. Even in old age, Mother never stopped caring for her children and grandchildren. No matter how old we became, we were always her children in her heart. She also cared deeply for relatives and others, always willing to help those in need without asking for recognition.
Today, we say goodbye with great sorrow, but also with profound gratitude. We are grateful for the gift of being her children, for growing up in her love, and for having her beside us for so many precious years. Mother has completed her journey. She fulfilled her responsibilities as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and loving family member. She gave her life to building and protecting her family. Although she is no longer physically with us, Mother will never truly leave us. She will live on in our memories, in the lessons she taught us, and in the love we continue to share with one another.
With this offering of incense from our hearts, we pray that you may peacefully journey to the Buddha's Pure Land, free from all suffering. Mother, you may have left this world, but you will never leave our hearts. We love you and miss you.
