On the evening of September 21, 2025, Nguyen Thi Ai Loan, also known as Leanne Nguyen, passed away peacefully at the age of 69, surrounded by family and friends at the Los Alamitos Hospital in Los Alamitos, California.
AiLoan was born on February 26, 1956 in Da Lat, Lam Dong province, VietNam. She finished high school at Pleime High School in Pleiku city in 1973, and then got her teaching degree in 1976 from Buon Ma Thuot Vocational College to become a high school teacher. She spent the majority of her life living in Saigon, Vietnam, where she met and got married to Nam Tran (aka Phu Tri) in 1987. Together they raised 3 beautiful daughters. In 2013, she moved to Orange County, California with her family.
AiLoan worked in sales and communication for many years at a photography company in Saigon before transitioning to entrepreneurship. In the early 2000s, during the rise of Vietnam-US trade relations, she began importing US goods for Saigon's supermarket chains. Following this successful venture, she then launched her own business selling cosmetic products.
In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, reading books, watching food shows and learning new recipes. Cooking was her love language. She would spend the majority of her day everyday in the kitchen making food for her children with love.
As a deeply spiritual person, Ailoan found her passion in Divine Dharma Meditation. She loved to share her wisdom and meditation philosophy, enriching the lives of those she met through meaningful conversations.
A devoted and loving mother, AiLoan considered her children her greatest accomplishment. She consistently supported them and fiercely advocated for them throughout her life. AiLoan will be remembered by her wisdom, fiery spirit, and for those who know - her famous Hainanese chicken rice. AiLoan is survived by her husband, Nam Tran; her three daughters: Amber Ngoc-Anh Phu(Husband—Jacob Duong), Ha Phu (Husband—Trevor Rima), and Elaine Kim Thao Phu; and her granddaughter Maelie Rima.
