This is a picture of Quy on an ship heling install one of the many systems he designed and helped test and build while at MariPro in Santa Barbara. He started at MariPro in 1988 coming over from Polar Research Laboratories as a Mechanical Engineer. Throughout his long Career with MariPro he was a key contributor on nearly every major program providing design, manufacturing, test, installation support and innovative insight. He tried to retire but we begged him to come back and help us in recent years. Quy not only designed things he helped build and test them and then went in the field to help install them. Many of the systems Quy helped deliver are currently operational in the deep ocean after many decades providing key capabilities to our customers and our nation. Quy was a smart, hardworking, honest engineer who always tried to do his best and put in the extra hours to make sure our programs were successful. He had integrity. He had a biting sense of humor that often hit close to home but broke the tension in many difficult situations. He didn’t laugh much but he was always in the thick of humorous back and forth with his colleagues. He suffered fools badly and did not care if you were the CEO or the janitor, he addressed all quite passionately. He was particularly direct, but fair, with those who worked hands-on alongside him. 
We all are better for having known and worked with Quy. He was a real person and someone you could count on and trust. His influence endures in the culture and work ethic we still have today at MariPro. We need more people in the world like Quy. He will be missed.
