You told me that life was too short
You told me not to think about what had happened in the past
And we had promised to see each other next time I come to LA since we had missed each other so many times for the past few years.

I realize now that life is indeed way too short
We live miles apart, we had lost contact for so many years and had such a big gap in age
Yet you still cared for your cousin.

I realize now that I will no longer have the chance to talk with you and entertain, as you said, for memorable souvenirs
I will no longer have the opportunity to let you know that you are my funny, simple, caring and humble "Japanese" cousin
And my upcoming trip to LA will no longer be the same.

Rest in peace anh Truong! So long...
A di dà Phât.

I have memories of Cau Truong being so warm, jovial, and kind. I remember him as the Uncle at the parties who loved his beer, his hugs, and his stories, just like my own Dad.

I know he was a highly intelligent man who spoke many languages. However, what always touched me about Cau Troung was his kindness and affection. He always had such positive things to say to me as his niece. He would put his arm around my neck and just go on a rant about how he loved us(my brothers and I) or would share a story for the Vietnam days. I really appreciated all his charisma and his ability to express his feelings.

Tata Oahn, Steven, Dora, Gino and to all the other family members in your circle, I am truly sorry for your loss. I pray that you find peace and healing during this period of grieving. Rest in peace, Uncle.

Chu 4,
I still can’t believe that you are gone. Let’s travel back to 1989 when my dad bought his first brand new Ford Aerostar van and drove miles from Canada to Glendale, California to visit you. It was my very first time meeting you and you made me feel like we had met before. That trip had lots of great memories for me because you were so daring in driving us to Tijuana and Tracey was conceived in Glendale. The second time I saw you was when we went to Disneyland a few years later and you were so kind to let us stay at your timeshare. You have always been there for your family and the most special thing is that you and thim 4 are always at each of your nieces or nephews weddings. I’m sorry I didn’t have a wedding for you to attend yet but when I do I will reserve a seat for you.
It is with great sadness to lose one of the core family members of NGUYEN VINH. Since you were the first to lead the way for us to come to Japan, USA, Canada, and Europe, and now the first to leave us here. I look forward to seeing you again wherever you are.
With lots of love and memories.

Cher Bác 4

You were probably one of the first uncle with whom I had the chance to just sit down and have many long discussions, getting to hear about your and the family’s past.
I am thankful for having been able to hear them, and today just remind me of how precious these moments are and how important it is to have them before it is too late.

I can’t start to imagine what it was for you, my dad and everyone else, to move abroad at such a young age with little to no ties home, not sure when and if you’d come back.

For that, I am thankful that through you and your family, I was able to feel at home from my first day in socal, then moving in to my dorms after we’d stop to a supermarket to grab a box of instant noodles - that I felt were unnecessary but ended up being so welcome on some late nights…

I am grateful for the moments shared, being able to finally meet people I’ve had only heard in stories before, and spending quality family time during Thanksgiving and others, while I was away from my parents and Anh.

Not sure where you are now, but I am wishing you all the best, and sending your family lots of positive thoughts

Arthur

Dear bác 4,
My greatest memory of you is from your trip to Europe when I was 10 years old. You would play with me and telling me jokes. You seemed never tired of me asking you questions. Always up to have fun, I enjoyed listening to your stories.
Although I am sad today, we had these happy moments that we shared. Since you left, I cherish these souvenirs day after day.
Your French niece,
Tí

My dad has 3 brothers and uncle 4 was the first uncle I’ve met. I remembered clearly it was summer 1983 he drove his family all the way to Vancouver, Canada to visit my family. My older brother and I were playing outside the house and my uncle drove his car up to me asked me if this is Loc’s Nguyen (my dad) house in Vietnamese. I ran inside to call my dad, my parents was so happy to see him and his family. We spent lots of family time during his visit.

My uncle will go out of his way to come visit us or attend any family events. He was kind, caring and loving uncle. I will miss him very much.

Anh Truong,

I promised you that after your recovery from operation we will go to Vietnam next year. You said you will celebrate your 50 years golden wedding anniversary in Vietnam. But you can't make it. We are very sad.

You told us that Sep 2 was the day the President Ho Chi Minh passed away In 1969, and it is the independent day of Vietnam in 1945. Now everybody day off on Sep 2 in Vietnam. You passed away on the same day.

We all miss your smile in the family gathering.
May your soul rest in peace.

He was a good man, he was my blood brother, not at all a brother-in-law, because he fed me.....cigarettes since I was 15 years of age, when at that age, I could not even afford to buy 1 cigarette at a time, he bought a carton each time and every time...he was my idol.
He was a good man, an honest man,, an intelligent man, the most educated person in my family....an engineer returned home from overseas...it was big..he was my idol....not just because he fed me those cigarettes when I was 15 !
He will always be missed, forever...!!

I LOVE YOU MAN, bon voyage...I will see you some day..

I will always remember Cau Truong as someone with a great sense of humor and always willing to talk. He has a good heart and always willing to help out anyone in need. I know he will be missed by many. I will always remember the fond memories when I traveled back to Vietnam with Cau Truong, Tata Oanh, Ba Ngoai, and Cau Kiet in the early 90s where we enjoyed the simple things in life like each other's company filled with stories about our relatives and the country where we were born, the great scenery, the wonderful food, and the friendliness of the locals.

I meet my brother in law 1974 on the way to Tokyo, Japan with my older sister Oanh staying over Hong Kong couple of days , my sister decided we both dressed “ao dai” Vietnamese dress , she signed up for beauty college, I signed up university of Tokyo learn Japanese language and economic, when we walked to a plane boarding I know someone called us behind, he said it’s nice to meet us from same country, I said you are looks like a soccer player from Vietnam with your pack bags, he said no I learned to be captain for a commercial boat I been in Tokyo for 8 years I ca speak and write Japanese language no problem, I said wow we need you are guided us around city, when we arrived in Tokyo he took us to a dormitory, after that’s I don’t see Truong and Oanh for a month they’re disappear, just like Romeo and Juliet they’re inseparable this is my memories 45 years past I missed him and Love them both
