

DeSimone, Amidio “Chap”, 91, of Ipswich, MA, formerly of the Township of Washington, NJ passed away peacefully on June 27, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the loving and devoted husband of Alba DeSimone for 67 years. Amidio was born February 14, 1926 in South Alabama, NY. He graduated from Cliffside Park High School and worked as a floor mason for many years. He was proud of his service as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and helping out at the senior center. He was deeply devoted to his family and will be remembered for his generous and selfless spirit. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Amy Harris and her husband Michael, of Lebanon, CT, Marilyn DeSimone and her husband Carlos Heymann of Ipswich, MA, his son, Joseph DeSimone and his wife Dianne, of Galloway, NJ his grandchildren Rachel Minichiello and her husband Eliot, Evan Heymann, Michael DeSimone, Christie DeSimone, Joseph Harris and his great-grandson Owen Minichiello. He also leaves his sisters Mary Cherotte and Margaret DeSimone. Amidio was pre-deceased by his brothers Fred DeSimone, Bruno DeSimone, Gennaro Fondi, and his sisters Louise Terhune and Gilda McKenna.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday, June 30 at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, New Jersey, between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 1, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 668 Ridgewood Road, Township of Washington, NJ at 10 a.m. Services will conclude at Garden of Memories, Soldier Hill Road, Township of Washington, NJ.
