Angelina Papa, 89, of River Vale, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 29th, 2020. Angie was born in the Bronx, NY, where she lived with her parents and four siblings in a traditional Italian-American household. She later met the love of her life there, Bill Papa and started a family. In 1967 Angie and Bill moved to Dumont, NJ where she raised her children, watched them grow and witnessed the birth of seven grandchildren.

Angie’s greatest love was spending time with her family, entertaining guests in her home, and preparing holiday meals for loved ones. She took immense pride in being involved in the everyday lives of her three daughters and grandchildren. Angie spent her days caring for others, which led to a long career in child care working at the JCC on the Palisades and Meadowbrook Elementary School in Hillsdale. Her favorite pastime was taking day trips to the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk, playing games and winning prizes with her two sisters. She cherished time spent vacationing in the Catskill Mountains for forty years with her family. Angie’s most adored hobby was shopping.

Angelina is predeceased by her loving husband of sixty years, Bill; siblings Jennie Merante, Grace Angerano, Marie LoCicero, and Carl Zema. She is survived by her beloved children Maryann Martino and her husband Gene, Linda Consales and her husband Leon and Stephanie Kissane and her husband Patrick; seven grandchildren, Matthew Martino and wife Sandy; Stacey Martino, Vanessa Martino, Steven Consales, Andrew Consales, Michael Kissane and Michele Kissane. All will miss her very much.

The family will receive guests at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Wednesday, September 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9PM, private cremation to follow. So many great memories of my dear Aunt Angie. From the early days of Papa’s Villa to Shapanack, Ocean Grove, Point Pleasant, and so many holidays we spent together, we shared stories, laughs and more importantly family time with each other. So many events... too many too mention... I will never forget all the good times. And yes... you and I were always the last to leave... we never could say goodbye. Until we meet again. 😢❤️🙏

Dear Maryann, Linda, Stephanie, and family-
I will always remember your mom during our days in Dumont. Her friendly smile and her kind heart will remain with everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Sending you all strength and love during this difficult time and hope that you continue to feel her love every day. Trust that she is with your dad watching over all of you.
With sympathy,

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Angie when she was a lunch aide at Meadowbrook School. Angie was a lovely person and we had many wonderful talks. May your memories (especially Christmas baking), always bring a smile to your hearts. May Angie rest peacefully now that she is rejoined with her beloved husband.

I was only at Meadowbrook for one year but i remember the great conversations we had. Angie would always talk to me about her experiences with children and give me advice on what I should do. I will miss her. RIP

I met Angie 10 years ago @ our MB school lunchroom job. She was warm, loving & was like a mom/grandma to everyone she came in contact with. She loved being around all those children. It made her so happy she always said. We formed our group & became close. Getting together for lunch or our Christmas celebrations @ Angie’s. It was a very special place & time. I have many happy memories of our time together that I will cherish always.
God Bless you Angie.
My thoughts & prayers are with Stephanie, Sandy & the entire Papa family.
