He was born in Revò, Italy to Arturo and Pierina (née Zadra) Salazer on January 21st, 1934, the 7th of 11 children.
With just a 5th grade formal education and $4 in his pocket, Arthur immigrated to the United States in June of 1953, where he began working as a carpenter in New York City specializing in foundation construction. After quickly becoming a foreman, he proceeded to have a long and successful career on projects that included the Verrazzano Bridge, Lincoln Center, and the original Second Avenue Subway tunnels.
On September 2nd, 1961, he married Elaine Flaim in Queens, New York. They proceeded to live in Brooklyn and Queens for the next 53 years, where they raised their 3 beloved children before moving to New Jersey in 2014.
Beyond his professional life, Arthur was an avid home improver. He spent countless hours in his tool room crafting his next project, often with the help of his fellow Tyrolean friends. He was a cherished member of the Club Trentino of New York, where him and Elaine built numerous lifelong friendships.
He frequently returned to Revò, most recently this past July, where he made many fond memories with his family and friends, bonding over his love of the natural beauty and serenity that contrasted life in New York City. He will be remembered for his legendary appetite and love of Tyrolean cuisine staples such as polenta, tonco, crauti, cianecleri, and pasta.
Arthur was tremendously proud of being the embodiment of the American Dream.
Arthur is survived by his wife Elaine; three children, Diane Noujaim and her husband Alex, Thomas Salazer and his wife Elizabeth, and Lisa Salazer and her husband Bruno; ten grandchildren, Danielle, Andrew, and Cristina (husband Sinan) Noujaim, Matthew, Anthony (wife Lauren), Christopher, and Lauren Salazer, and Daniela, Anna, and Marco Rossi; and brother, Lorenzo.
