

WILSON, Arthur Leslie Jr. of Emerson passed away on Friday, June 3 at home. Arthur was born in Palisades Park, NJ to Arthur Leslie Sr. and Olga Wilson 90 years ago, and moved to Emerson with his wife Erna and young daughters after serving proudly in the 28th Infantry Division of the Army in WW II during the Battle of the Bulge. Arthur graduated from Columbia University with a degree in economics and enjoyed a long career as a reporter and financial analyst with Dun and Bradstreet Corporation. He also enjoyed many hobbies and pursuits--fishing, camping, traveling, reading, music and dancing, old movies and gardening. One of his favorite adventures was traveling to Egypt in 1990, where he climbed inside the great pyramid to the top chamber. Arthur was president of the Pascack Valley chapter of Parents Without Partners at its founding where he met his second wife, Gloria. After retirement he served as Quartermaster of the Oradell VFW organization, where he especially enjoyed throwing parties which were enjoyed by all. Beloved husband of Gloria and cherished father of Leslie Symon, Paula Wilson and her husband Tom Hayden, and stepchildren Jeanne McDougall and her husband Vernon, Carolyn Laughlin and her husband Mike, and Barbara Wells and her husband Tommy. Adored grandfather of Aleta and Valerie Symon; Tommy, Alex and Ryan Hayden; Devon and Jesse Weidemann; Jill, Christian and Allison McDougall; and Brian and Jay Laughlin. Beloved great-grandfather of Andrew Symon. Arthur was predeceased by daughter Julia Wilson. The family is grateful to Emmanuel Adomako for the loving care he provided in Arthur's final year. Visitation at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ, on Friday, June 10 from 2-6 p.m. A brief service and remembrances will be held at 4:30 p.m. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY on Saturday, June 11, at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made in Arthur's name to the American Cancer Society.
