Audrey was born in Gary, Indiana and was a graduate of Hackensack High School. She went on to attend Glassboro State College where she earned a degree in teaching. She continued her education by completing her Masters program at William Paterson University.
Audrey spent her entire career working for the Paramus Board of Education. She started in the elementary schools and finished her 36 year career at Paramus High School teaching Special Education. She retired at the age of 58 and traveled the world with her husband, family, and friends.
Audrey enjoyed playing mahjong, having her monthly book club, and celebrating birthday dinners with "her girls." She also enjoyed crocheting, which led to her donating crocheted beanies to premature babies at Valley Hospital. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was the most incredible mother and Nana anyone could ask for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Violet (Jan) Carabetta and husband Philip Russo.
Audrey is survived by her daughter Heather Tannenholz, granddaughter Brianna and grandson Gavin; sons Philip (Linda) Russo, James (Barbara) Russo and grandchildren James and Gianna. Audrey is also survived by her brothers Edward (Carol) Carabetta and Ralph (Judy) Carabetta; many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
To honor Audrey's memory, a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 3rd from 1-4 pm at Becker Funeral Home located at 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675
