Dear Mamma,
My first thought is that I feel cheated that I only had you near us in Woodcliff Lake for four months. But, then I realize this was all part of the plan…to finally get you and Dad near us so that we could take better care of you and make sure you had the help you needed. I’ve enjoyed my time with you while you were near and I cherish the many, many memories we have all shared as a big blended family. Im hoping that I have inherited even a small measure of your strength, dignity, pride and “Martha” skills.
You’re heart will forever live in mine…I will think of you and miss you every day. The boys and I will especially miss your comforting humming as you did your thing…this is how they came to know you as
“Grandma hmmhmmhmm”🤗
Please be our angel and watch over us. I will take comfort in knowing that you can finally breath easy…I love you forever and always.
Your loving daughter,
Nancy❤️

Please join us in our Memorial of Our Mother Barbara Christie’s life as we grieve her loss. My Mom was a strong, Graceful and Loving Mother Great/Grandma and Aunt to us all and Adoring Wife to Dave Van Houten. We all Love you Momma and know you are now at peace and can join your Mom Kathleen and Dad Charles in Heaven. I will always remember you everyday and especially at Thanksgiving while passing the Buids Broccoli Casserole and while making our favorite Ruddabeggas Turnips Supreme. I learned many life lessons being your Son and will Carry on your Strong, Graceful and Proud ways. I also learned not to be pushed around and will continue to offer anyone a “Barb” when they least expect it to let them know who’s Boss. I Love you Mom Please visit me once in awhile during the next step of your Journey Home. I also want to offer my condolences to all of her family and friends. Thank you to everyone for their support and prayers.

ODE TO A SISTER

There were four of us till just yesterday.
For so many years it has been that way.
It’ll be tough on us three but we’ll never forget
That for most of our lives we were part of a set.

So many memories! They fill up my heart
As I recall the the wonderful part
Of being a sister and knowing down deep
That happen-what-may, our connections would keep.

The years have flown by with a leap and a lurch
Since the days when on Sundays we filed into church
Our family of six, we filled a whole pew
Mom and dad and us girls--we were more than a few!

As the years tumbled by we were ever so glad
To strengthen the special bond that we had.
As long as we have a sister to share
In the blessings and burdens of life that we bear.

In Barbara we had a gentler approach
To our problems and woes when we needed a coach.
She was filled with the grace of good taste and cheer
But could party till dawn to toast a New Year!

Four sisters we’ve been from my birthday onward,
And so we’ll remain till God takes us homeward.
Please watch over us till we meet again
In heaven above for our final Amen!
