October 15, 1936-August 6, 2025
Bernard Terence "Terry" Salmon, 88, a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on October 15, 1936, in The Bronx, New York, Terry was the youngest of twelve children. His parents, James Salmon of Tipperary and Mary Manion of Galway, Ireland, instilled in him a deep sense of faith, family, and quiet resilience that would shape the rest of his life.
Terry attended Cardinal Hayes High School and went on to earn an engineering degree from Manhattan College. Never one to settle, he continued his education at New York University, earning his master's degree in accounting. He spent over 35 years with IBM, where his intellect, steady work ethic, and problem-solving mind earned him the respect of colleagues and lifelong friendships.
1962 Terry married his sweetheart Margaret "Peggy" (nee Woods) Salmon. Over their 63 years of marriage, they built a full life together. They raised two children: Margaret Hanna and her husband, Gary, and John Salmon and his wife, Kelly. Terry's greatest joy came from his role as Grandpa to his five grandchildren: Jackie, Kathleen, Matthew, Michael, and Julia, each of whom he adored beyond words.
Terry's love for family extended well beyond his household. With all the friends he grew up with and a huge extended family, he cherished the time spent with his siblings when they were still on this earth and maintained close bonds with his many nieces and nephews throughout the years. Terry was always there for holidays, birthdays, or any excuse for a family gathering, smiling, making jokes, and showing a deep appreciation for the people around him.
A true New Yorker at heart, Terry was a lifelong Yankees, Jets, and Giants fan. Whether at the stadium or on the couch, he loved watching the games and sharing that passion with his children, grandchildren, and friends-especially when it involved a lively debate or a trip down memory lane.
Terry will be remembered for his sharp mind, gentle presence, wit, kindness, and unwavering loyalty to the people and teams he loved. He never sought attention but built a life filled with meaning, devotion, and integrity. His legacy lives on in the family he built, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely.
He is deeply loved and will be forever missed.
