Carl K. Sorensen

Carl Kenneth Sorensen passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Gloria. Devoted father of James Duff Sorensen, (fiance:Renee Falcon), Lore Sorensen, Karen Clark, Harold E. & Carol Jones. Loving grandfather of Grae Nonas, Ian Mulcahey, Kayla Soto, Pilar Agueda and great-grandfather of Aya & Aki Nonas, Julian Soto. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sandra Olsen Sorensen and grandson, Joshua Nonas.

Carl was born in Englewood, NJ, lived with his grandparents in Norway before returning to New Jersey. He lived in Bogota, Paramus, and Hillsdale. He taught calculus and chemistry in New Milford High School for 35yrs and was their guidance director. He served in the US Army as 2nd Lieutenent in the Tanker division stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

Carl was very active in the Paramus Rotary for 21 years, a Paul Harris Fellow, a recipient of the President's Award, Rotarian of the Year, Governor Citation for Club & Vocational Service, and reviewed applications each year for the College Scholarship program.

The family will receive their relatives and friends on Thursday, June 18th 10am to 1pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood. The internment will follow at George Washington Cemetery, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paramus Rotary Club c/o Treasurer PO Box 1003 Paramus NJ 07653-1003.
