Carmela R Izzo

IZZO Carmela (Romano), 94, passed away on March, 24, 2011. She was the daughter of Michael and Angelina Izzo. She was the beloved sister of the late Ferdinando, Michael, Anthony, John and Angelina (Lilli) Izzo. She is survived by her two sons Louis and John Colonna-Romano, two grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She and her family moved to Emerson, NJ in 1924. She was married to Gaetano "Nino" Colonna-Romano who died in 1974. She was a beautician for many years and loved animals and arts and crafts. She was stricken with Guillain-Barre syndrome in her 50s and needed a wheel chair after that. But her disability never held her back from enjoying life and being with people. She was a member of many clubs and an advocate for people with disabilities. Funeral Liturgy at Church of The Assumption, Emerson, NJ on Monday at 9:30 AM. Interment, Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah, NJ. The family will receive their friends at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ on Sunday, 1-5 PM
