Charles J. De Meola

Charles Joseph De Meola (“Chuck”), 76, of Westwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gail. Devoted father of Lauren (and her husband Michael Rogers) and Tracy (and her husband Steven Landgraber). Loving grandfather of Elizabeth, Andrew and Charlotte.

Born in Bronx, NY, where he lived until the age of 15. His family then moved to Hawthorne, NJ, where he met Gail. He graduated from Villanova University, with an accounting degree. Chuck and Gail married and initially lived in Buffalo, NY before moving back to Westwood to be closer to their families. They stayed in Westwood for almost 50 years. Seven years ago they purchased a home in Ocean City, NJ where they had vacationed for many years. They loved spending time there, especially when hosting family and friends. Chuck could often be found biking, combing the beach for sea glass, and strolling the boards while enjoying a macaroon from George’s.

Chuck was a Certified Public Accountant and a partner at De Meola Zawacki Mingione. During his career, he was active in his local chapter of New Jersey Certified Public Accountants, including serving as president. He took pride in working with many not-for-profit organizations where he was often finding ways to donate time or money in addition to providing professional services.

He was a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church where he served on the finance committee for decades and was a regular supporter of the parish.

The family will receive their relatives and friends on Sunday, June 28, 2026 from 3-6pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood.

A Mass celebrating Charles’s life and faith will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 10am at St. Andrew Church, 120 Washington Avenue, Westwood. The Inurnment will follow at Westwood Cemetery, 23 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wildlife Conservation Society at WCS.org.
