May 2nd 1995 - May 16th 2025
A beloved son, brother, friend and the best ShopRite cart pusher.
Born and raised in Washington Township, NJ, Chris lost his battle to appendix cancer on May 16th, 2025, only 2 weeks after his 30th birthday. If there’s one thing to share about Chris, it’s that he is a warrior. He faced medical challenges his whole life, from seizures, his autism diagnosis, testicular cancer and an extremely rare and aggressive cancer. He faced it all, with a charming smile on his face, and surrounded by loved ones.
Chris is the son of Debra and Chris Gehringer, and siblings with Tommy, Lucie and his half-brother Ellis. Not to mention his partner in crime dog, Polly. He truly loved his family more than anything.
Chris graduated from Ridgefield Memorial High School and went on to work at ShopRite for 8 years, which was his pride and joy. He touched so many lives in that parking lot, made so many friends and memories. He was truly devoted to his work. Other days he would spend at his program, working on arts and crafts, and going on field trips. The nights he would spend grilling sausages, watching Mets and Devils games, blowing the leaves, riding his bike, and playing on Xbox with his friends. Chris was truly the most simple and pure human being-always looking to help others and put a smile on everyone’s face. He is survived through his friends and family, who are devoted to spreading his message and light to others.
Chris’s smile, his sense of humor, and everything else about him will be deeply missed by those who loved him. To know Chris was to love him.
“Rejoice for those who transform into force.
One with the Force, they are, and our job, it is, to remember that we will, in time, also pass on.
Luminous beings are we, but temporary vessels, our bodies are, and we shall all find ourselves here in time.
A moment of silence, I ask, to remember and to move on.”
