Mom,
When I heard you weren't doing well, I was convinced you'd get better. I had no idea that you were in so much pain for so long. But, that's what you were – a fighter. I always admired your strength and courage. I had so much I wanted to say to you. There is nothing worse than words left unsaid. I know I can pray to you, but it was your response or awareness that I wanted. You were so wise and I could sit and talk to you for hours. We never had a dull conversation. I'm at peace knowing you are with Dad and you are going to be our family's angel. It warms my heart that you will be with me always. You are my Mother and my best friend. There hasn't been a moment you haven't made better. You are the most unique person I have ever met. You could be the strength someone wanted or you could be compassion someone needed. You always cared and respected others thoughts. You made it a point to be accepting of others. When Dad passed away in 2003, I know you were hurting inside. But, you selflessly became the shoulder for someone else. When I first met you, you were so warm and accepting. You would never let someone feel like they weren't family. I never felt like a daughter-in-law; I always felt like family. I am blessed to have the clear memory of the day we first met, because it was the day I met my best friend. I am so heartbroken, that things were left unresolved. But, I will always have our good memories. I loved sitting next to you at family events, doing activities with you, talking to you, and spending time with you. If you met “you” or someone like you, you'd know exactly how important the impact of your personality was. There are not enough words to sum up the pain of losing you, the warmth of your personality, and the blessing of having you in my life. There was so much you contributed to your son and me. I am so grateful you were there for our children's graduations and our daughters' weddings. I am grateful for the things you have done for our family: helping with expenses for my (and Tom's) wedding, giving laptops to my children for their graduations, contributing items to my home, and helping with my daughters weddings. I'm happy that you were able to be a part of their lives for as long as you were. Regardless of things that don't matter (letter, etc.), I will always remember what was important and I truly and deeply love you with all my heart. Thank you for everything you have done for our family. I'm convinced God spent extra time creating you to be the voice of reason, compassion, love, and joy – you were the epitome of all those things. You were so beautiful and were a remarkable woman. I saw an owl on the roof of my apartment the night you passed (4/21/13). I know it was you. I am convinced that that was your way of saying that everything is okay. I would've gone up there if I could have. I know Heaven has been waiting for you to come, so the party can start. I am excited that you can be with Dad. You can be my stars in the night and the warmth on my skin throughout the day. Thank you for being a part of creating my wonderful family. I love you and I will miss you. You will always be with me. My memories of you will always be with me, unless I get Alzheimer's – maybe if then.

I can't believe you're gone.  You were like a second mom to me.  You always gave me a shoulder to cry on, you dried my eyes and made me feel better instantly when my heart was breaking because you always knew just what to say.  You were my drinking and smoking buddy back in the day when we'd sit around the backyard sipping mudslides and sneakin' smokes.  Well we really didn't sneak them, everyone was watching but we didn't care, we laughed and didn't give a you know what.  You weren't suppose to go so soon.  No one will ever make me laugh the way you did or "mother" me with your warm words of reassurance that always made me feel so safe and loved.  Your kids were so blessed to get to have you their entire lives.  I was blessed any time I could be around you.  You're probably looking down from heaven now and saying "why are you writing all that on the internet?  I don't have a computer here, just look up and talk to me!!!"  All my love to you in heaven Mrs Jones.  I'll never walk by the house again without shedding a tear.  Love, Anne
