

Dr. Daryl H. O'Brien Palmer, loving mother and devoted pediatrician, 59 years old of Montvale, NJ passed away peacefully on October 21, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 29, 1956 in Orange, NJ, Daryl was raised in Randolph and Morris Township and graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Morristown High School. She was a member of the first co-educational class to attend Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. After graduating from Dartmouth College, she attended Dartmouth Medical School and completed her pediatric residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. Daryl lived in Emerson, NJ before moving to Montvale in 1996. She was a lifetime summer resident of Ocean Grove, NJ. She worked at Metropolitan Hospital in New York prior to joining Broadway Pediatric Associates in Westwood, NJ twenty-five years ago. She was a board certified fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Inside New Jersey magazine named her one of New Jersey’s top doctors in 2013. She was active in the Montvale community, especially in the schools that her daughters attended. She was an avid volleyball fan for both Pascack Hills High School and Skidmore College and was an advocate for Dig Pink at both schools. She loved the Jersey Shore, her dog Rudy and spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Palmer, and her three daughters, Meredith, Corinne, Jessica and her husband, Chris. She is also survived by her parents, William and Helen O’Brien, her brothers, Steve, Glenn, and Carl O’Brien, and a large extended family. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 1-4 p.m. & 6-9 p.m. at the Becker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 8:15 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be on Saturday at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Daryl's name to the Side Out Foundation (Dig Pink) or the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association.
