Donald was my hero. He was a brother to me since I was 16 and he was 17. He never let me down. He always cared. I miss him in this world, and no one - especially me - ever expected Don to go. He was indestructible, untouchable. He was Superman. I will always love Don. The world is not the same for me. And many others. I love you, Don.

I always loved seeing Don throughout the years at our family functions with my sister Felicia and my brother-in-law Jed. He always had a smile on his face that said how much he enjoyed just being with his family. He was sweet and gentle. It made me so happy to know that my little nieces had such a loving, compassionate Grampie! Don you will be very missed, but we will keep your memory living forever in our hearts...xo

I have not seen Don since we graduated in 1964,but I was aware of his close relationship with his wife and family through e-mails I receive from the BHS Alumni. It takes a tragedy such as this to make me aware of how much I have missed by not living in the area. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Don's family and those BHS Alumni that are mourning also.

I graduated from high school with Don but did not know him well. But what a loss of a wonderful person who has given a lot to those who knew him. I send my love and prayers to his family.

Chardelle and Family,
Even though our paths did not cross often, when we were together, our memories remained intact. You and Donald have always been the perfect couple and always showed love and compassion to all of us. I will light a candle each Sunday in Church for him and for you. My prayers are with you,
Elaine Lavitola and family

Chardelle, Wendy, Jed and Family

We have been friends with Don since Junior High School, I know Carol and Don shared adjacent homeroom desks, for years. We can find no words or condolences in which to put Don's passing into perspective. Frankly, we are numb. In our experience we have not met or known a kinder or more generous person. We had our adventures (the Cadillac Kids), our life choices and our families. Ours have been irrevocably intertwined with Don and his family. Dons passing is an unimaginable loss, not just for our friends and families, but the loss is the world's as well. It could use many more Don Blasbergs which would clearly make the world a much much better place. Dwight and Carol Holmes

Life can change in an instant. Mine did when I met Don’s daughter Wendy some nine years ago and for all of us who knew Don, our lives changed forever three weeks ago.
Don was the type of person who was always there to help, someone whom you could always count on. Besides his great skills he had all of the right tools. Need a truck or a cement mixer, call Don; need to chop up the basement floor to put in a bathroom call Don. His large inventory of tools was overshadowed only by his generosity.
Last week I assisted Chardelle in process of donating Don’s organs. (His two kidneys have already been successfully transplanted). During that process she needed to list all of the places that they’ve traveled to. The list was so long that they had to write in the margins of the page. I was amazed to hear that Don had seen so much of the world in his lifetime, a testament to all of his hard work and his drive to see and do new things. Not many of us can say that we’ve sat on a camel in Egypt or walked in the footsteps of Pharaohs.
Anyone who had ever reached out to shake Don’s hand would have noticed one thing, that he possessed huge powerful hands. These were only eclipsed by the enormous size of his heart. He will be missed…

Chardelle,
It was with a great sense of loss that I learned of Don's death. Don was a valued member of the golf team who enjoyed golfing with my sister Peg Brandes. He helped my sister Peg with replacing and fixing the new water heater in her home. Peg was very happy to show me the new water heater which works well! May it comfort you to know that so many people care and are thinking of you and your family at this time. My thoughts are with you and this difficult time.
With my deepest sympathy,
