The second of seven children born to Herbert and Mary Elizabeth St. George, Dorothy was born in the Bronx and lived as a child in Newfoundland, Canada. Dorothy graduated from Sacred Heart Academy and worked in Manhattan for Reuben H. Donnelly Corporation.
In 1953, she married Edward Maloney and they moved in 1960 to the Township where they raised their 4 children on Fern Street and were parishioners of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.
She worked for many years at B’Altman and Co. in Paramus where she made many lasting friendships.
In 1976 when little was known about the disease or treatment, Dorothy was diagnosed with breast cancer. With strength and dignity she battled the disease and in her quiet and unassuming way, Dorothy was a tremendous inspiration to many women and their families.
Dorothy loved spending time with her large family and many friends. Some of her best memories are of summers on Long Beach Island and Maloney family picnics.
Dorothy was the proud mother of Mark (Sally) of Millstone Twp, NJ, Ellen Hanes (Tim) of Locust Valley, NY, Edward (Nilda) of Brooklyn, NY and Beth (Dave) Klinger of Hummelstown, PA. She was a loving Nana to seven grandchildren, Michael Maloney (Stefanie), Amy Assadourian (Steve), Lt. Ian Hanes (Ashley), Katie Costello (Pat), Jessica Graulich (Nate), Gaylen Hanes, Mackenzie Klinger, Margaret Branco and Thomas (Rebekah) Branco; and nine great-grandchildren, Brenna and Greyson Maloney, Benjamin and Ava Assadourian, Jackson Branco, Hadley Hanes, Chase Costello and Harlee and Diesel Graulich. Also surviving Dorothy is her brother, Gerald St. George and sisters, Anne Kupferberg and Barbara Rodriguez and many nieces, nephews and friends.
