

Dorothy Mae (Cleveland) Mattson, 99, of Park Ridge passed away peacefully at Harmony Village in Westwood, NJ on January 16, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. Born on April 24, 1926 to parents Kenneth and Nellie Cleveland, Dorothy grew up in Westwood, graduated from Westwood High School, and was employed at Ingersoll Rand in NYC for 10 years prior to moving to Park Ridge to raise a family with beloved husband Charles T. Mattson.
Dorothy’s passions included reading, music, travel, American History, and cats. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and visited every state except, regrettably, Hawaii. Her travels outside the U.S. took her to many countries including Bermuda, South America, Mexico, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Finland, Russia, Estonia, and Germany. She was a member of Pascack Reformed Church, a longtime member of the Park Ridge Senior Club, and a trustee at the Pascack Historical Society.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Kenneth Robert Cleveland (wife Louise), and Harold Cleveland (wife Virginia), husband, Charles, son Charles K., as well as many cousins and in-laws, and her good friend and travel companion Doris Geist.
Surviving are her three daughters, Lorraine Brooks (husband Michael), Karen Galeazzi (husband Mark), Jeanne Moore (husband Patrick), as well as four grandchildren, Eric Brooks (wife Maggie), Justin Brooks (wife Victoria), Michelle Galeazzi Romagnoli (husband James), Christopher Moore, and five great grandsons, Mattson Brooks, Leo Romagnoli, Hudson Brooks, Vincent Romagnoli and Shiloh Brooks.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to caregiver Hilda Castro and the staff at Harmony Village Memory Care, especially Eliana, for their kindness, love and support during the last 3 years of her life.
Visitation is on Tuesday, January 20, from 4 to 8 pm, at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ. Funeral service at Becker Funeral Home is on Wednesday, January 21 at 11 am; burial at Westwood Cemetery, followed by a repast.
